Made for ages 5–9, leveled as they play

There's no placement test. Clockwood starts on o'clock and watches how quickly and accurately each time comes back. When half past is easy it brings in quarter past, and so on up to single minutes. Each run gets harder until the acorns run out, so a round is always a bit of a stretch.

Teachers: it's free for classroom use, with no accounts and no ads. Warm up with the teaching clock on the board, or embed the game on your class site so it's one click away for homework.

Quick quiz: no game, just clocks

Questions

Is the telling time game really free?

Yes. The whole game plays free in your browser, with no signup, no ads and no time limit. An iPhone app is on the way with offline play, a forest trail and a parent view, but the web game stays free.

What does it cover?

O'clock, half past, quarter past, quarter to, five-minute times and single minutes, on analog clocks, in digital numbers and in words. Older players also meet elapsed time in One Hour Later.

Does it read the times aloud?

Yes. Every time is read aloud in a recorded voice, and a speaker button plays it again. Younger children can play without reading.

What's different in the app?

It's not out yet. It's planned to add offline play, a forest trail and a parent view. See the app page.

Coming soon to iPhone

We're building a Clockwood app with what needs a real app: every time read aloud, offline play, and a parent view of which times have stuck and which are still tricky. The full game stays free here on the web.
